"I decided to take up piano after years of trying and failing
miserably teaching myself the guitar! My ambition was purely to
play piano as a hobby and for self interest as I have always
wanted to play a musical instrument. My challenge was that at 46
years old, I wanted to find a teacher who was not only a very
skilled pianist, but one who would provide a relaxed enjoyable
atmosphere for a total beginner who would be happy to go at my
pace. Having a full time job makes practice times somewhat
disjointed! After only 12 months tuition with Steve, I feel far
more confident, have a greater understanding of technique, music
reading and my overall playing skills have developed tremendously
from where I was (in my opinion!). Being taught by Steve is far
better than trying to teach yourself with online video alone as
you get instant feedback on your mistakes and areas you might
improve upon, Steve can also see where you are in terms of
development and make the right recommendations as to which pieces
you should be learning, which you simply do not get with online
video. Steve is a great teacher, relaxed, and does not put you
under any undue pressure. His skills as a pianist are incredible
and a joy to watch and learn from. I would highly recommend Steve
to anybody looking to start or further their 'career' in the
piano, whatever age group you are in."
